Winter joy at our cabin mid-April

Rune has been out travelling for about a week - to Wienna and Turku (Finland) - and finally came back home Thursday. Weather forecast was not really good with expected rain showers, but we still decided to pack our six siberian huskies, our two kids, one extra kid, and the sled into our two cars and take off to the cabin Friday after work. Something that we have not regreted. What a weekend we have had. The kids have been playing. The sun has been shining - not constantly - but still - most of the time - and no rain what so ever! Amazing. Still lots of snow in the mountains and we could use the same tracks that we used during Easter. Above zero temperatures during the day but freezing at night. Hence, I have been up early and doing my sledding before breakfast, and have consequently had good conditions on the track. What a joy. The dogs are doing so great. Shasa is my rock in the team. She knows all the commandoes and keeps the other dogs tip toe. And this weekend Rune has been lured into the joy of mushing as well. Taking off on his first expedition with our team of four adult dogs and lots of instructions on how to handle breaks etc he came back all smiles and full of confiedence. I think that there is a good chance that he might have caught the "musing infection" too after this. But his main passion is skiing with teams of two. And belive you me - that takes way much more courage than mushing with three sets of breaks! All our dogs - except Shasa who has never skied before - loves skiing - either alone or in teams. Great fun! Hopefully we will have more weekends like this before the snow dissapears!
