Castrating Balder
Our 4-year old Balder is recovering well from his surgery. He has always been a very slim, long-legged boy. Normally his appetite is great and eats well - but he appears to have high metabolism and is not adding much weight despite high intakes of food. When the females are in heat his appetite drops dramatically. Our females are not on the same cycles so this happens several times a year. After some thinking and discussions with our vet and mushing friends we decided that it would be better for Balder to be castrated. Now the surgery is done! He is enjoying indoor cuddles with us and with puppy Hauke - and he is healing well.
No training for Balder - of course - these coming weeks. But I don’t think he will miss his «marbles» and life will be better without the stress during heat, and also better weight gain.
