NTCH Team Tuvas Cazan has mated NTCH Nova av Viddashusky
We waited long and hard for our girls to go into heat again this spring - and well into summer - before it finally happened. Their last heat was in January - so we knew that we were in for a long wait. It felt like new puppies were being born every day left and right in mushing kennels around the country and the rest of the world - while everything was just very quite in our yard. Until all the girls (except Skádja who is castrated - and Freia who just joined us and is on a different cycle) went into heat - all at once - with Nova leading the way.
We had exciting plans for Nova this summer and could finally set things in action - book plane tickets, hotel and a car - for our two-day trip all the way south to Team Tuva in TUFSINGDALEN where Nova had a beautiful boy waiting for her!
We arrived in Tufsingdalen with a very happy Nova (she is an amazing travelling companion) - on the 26th of July - only two days after our return from the family vacation in Italy. Perfect timing in other words and no time to loose.
Nova was not very happy to see us leave her behind all alone with total strangers - but she was in the best of hands - with great distractions including training with Team Tuva - and thunder weather!
August 3rd our plan to mate Nova with NO TCH Zanex Vigda had to be revised. Nova wanted his father - NTCH Team Tuva´s Cazan - instead! So that’s how it went.
Huge thanks to Ingeborg and Håvard for taking such great care of our lady visitor from Tromsø – and for letting her be with the gentleman she truly preferred! She was mated three days in a row by Cazan (3rd, 4th and 5th of August). It could not have been better!
August 12-13th we travelled south to again to pick her up - and boy was she pleased to see us!!
We´re beyond grateful for this breeding collaboration with Team Tuva. Nova and Cazan are the perfect match - a dream combination - and we are so excited for the upcoming ultrasound examination scheduled September 12th.
If pregnant - and we think she is - she has this special glow that she had with her previous litter - her due date is October 5-7th. We are of course planning to keeping at least one of the puppies from this litter.
Returning home to Tromsø, Nova was ready for some more fun! Our dream was for her to bring home the big CAC at the Norwegian Kennel Club dog show in Tromsø August 16th – and she did! ova had such a great time in the ring together with Yukon, Myra, Skádja and all the rest (23 Siberian huskies were entered in the competition).
She was placed 2nd best female with CK, CAC, and reserve-CACIB under judge Elin Normannseth, with this lovely critique: “6 years, harmonious female, feminine head with excellent proportions and pigment. Well-set ears, stands with excellent topline, well-shaped chest and good length. Excellent proportions of legs and paws, strong bone, well-muscled. Very good coat and color. Moves very parallel with excellent side movement."
Nova already had one national CAC and one reserve-CAC, plus numerous 1st prizes from sled dog working trials. Now she’s just one small CAC away from becoming NUCH!
She already holds the NTCH title.
So! No rest for the wicked! And as some of you know - during that same dog show weekend - the dream of having offsprings after Hilma - that I had almost totally given up on - was absolutely not given up by Yukon - who had patiently waited for Hilma to be ready.
So there will probably be two litters of puppies at Kennel Snykovet this October if all goes well!
